Many people use fate and destiny as if they mean the same thing — but in metaphysics, they describe two very different dimensions of life.

Fate: The Structure You Are Born With

Fate (命) represents the foundation of your life — the natural structure, timing, and conditions you are born into.
It is like the framework of a house: fixed in its basic design, but capable of being used in different ways.
Your BaZi chart reflects this structure. It shows your inborn tendencies, talents, and limitations, derived from the precise time of your birth.

Destiny: The Path You Choose to Walk

Destiny (运) is how you move through that structure — the choices you make, the timing you respond to, and how you align with the flow of life.
While fate provides the map, destiny is the journey you create upon it.
Understanding destiny means learning to navigate with awareness — to act in harmony with the changing patterns of time, known as Luck Cycles in BaZi.
